how to sew a welt pocket

This instruction will show you a different way to sew a Tailor’s welt pocket. The welt pocket is a standard detail for blazers for both men and women.

First you will measure material for pocket is 8” down by 7-1/2”  across [plus allowance]

Then material for welt/flap 5-1/2” long by 3/4 width [...]

BASIC PANTS
Circumference of hem = 20”
Outline basic pants sloper including grain line, hip line,
crotch line and knee line
FRONT PANTS
A = grain line at hip
A to B = 4 ½”
A to C = 4 ½”
D = intersection of crotch and seam
D to E = 1”
Connect B to E with straight line as a guide
F = knee

In order to draft the basic pants sloper the following measurements are needed:
Waist
Hip
Crotch depth
Full length (outer side seam, waist to hem)

C to D =1/4 of A to C

HOW TO DRAFT THE SLACKS PATTERN
1) A to B – Equals side length measurement.
A to C – Equals 6-3/4” for size 12
6-7/8” for size 14
7” for size 16 and up
C to D – Equals 1/4 of hip measurements plus 3/4″ for ease. Square this line across at C.
