Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
A child’s pinafore, size desired.
NECK RUFFLE-Wide Edge
Starting at center make a chain slightly longer than neck and straps.
1s row: Holding back on hook the last loop of each tr, make 2 tr in 4th ch from hook,
thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster made), ch 5, make a 3-tr cluster in same ch, * skip 5 ch, in next ch make cluster, ch 5 and cluster. Repeat from * until row measures length desired. Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn.
2nd row: Make 6 sc in each sp across. Ch 8, turn.
3rd row: * Skip 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 5. Repeat from * across, having number of sps divisible by 6, ending with dc in last sc. Ch 9, turn.
4th row: Dc in first sp, * ch 6, dc in next sp. Repeat from * across. Turn.
5th row: Sl st to center of first sp, sc in same sp, * ch 7, sc in next sp. Repeat
from * across. Ch 4, turn.
6th row: Sc in first loop, (ch 4, sc in next sc, ch 4, sc in next loop) twice; * 5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop, (ch 4, sc in next sc, ch 4, sc in next loop) 4 times. Repeat from * across, ending with 5 dc in sc, sc in next loop, (ch 4, sc in next sc, ch 4, sc in next loop) twice. Ch 1, turn.
7th row: Sc in first sc, ch 5, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc, * ch 3, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sc in next sc, (ch 7, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc) 4 times. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 8th row: Sc in first loop, * (ch 4, sc in next sc) 3 times; ch 4, sc in next loop, ch 4, sc in next sc, ch 4, sc in next loop, 5 dc in next sc, sc in next loop, ch 4, sc in next sc, ch 4, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last loop. Ch 1, turn. 9th row: Sc in first sc, * ch 7, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc.
Repeat from * across. Turn:
10th row: Sl st to center of first loop, sc in same loop, * ch 7, sc in next loop. Repeat from * across. Break off.
NARROW EDGE Attach thread to opposite side of starting chain and work as for Wide Edge until first row
has been completed.
2nd row: 4 sc in each sp across.
3rd row: Repeat 3rd row of Wide Edge. Ch 5, turn.
4th row: Sc in first sp, * ch 5, sc in next sp. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn.
5th row: Sc in first loop, * ch 3, sc in next sc, ch 3, sc in next loop.
Repeat from * across. Break off. Sew in place around neck of pinafore.
BOTTOM RUFFLE Make a chain slightly longer than bottom edge of pinafore. 1st row: Dc in 10th ch from hook, * ch 5, skip 1 ch, dc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Ch 9, turn.
2nd to 8th rows incl: Repeat 4th to 10th rows incl of Wide Edge of Neck Ruffle. Break off at end of 8th row. Sew in place around bottom. Starch lightly and press.
