NEEDLES

TENSION
It is essential that you test your tension before commencing the garment you have chosen to make.
Using the hook size recommended work a square to measure 10 cm x 10 cm (4 in. x 4 in.) If you get less stitches than stated, use a size smaller hook, if you get more, use a size larger

Rep. the last 2 rows until rib measures 4-1/4 in. Cast off in rib.
FRONT WELTS
Using 3-1/4mm needles and with right side of work facing, pick up and k.43(47 ,49,53, 55,59) sts. evenly along lower edge by missing approximately every 16th( 11 th, 18th, 12th, 19th, 13th) s1. Work 4-1/4 in. in p.,l ,k.l rib as given for Back Welt. Cast off in rib.
SLEEVE CUFFS
Using 3-1/4mm needles and with right side of work facing, pick up and k.47(49,49,53, 53, 57) sts. evenly along lower edge of sleeve by missing approximately every 3rd st. Work 2 in. in p.l, k.l rib as given for Back Welt. Cast off in rib.
EDGING
Join shoulder seams. Using 3.50mm hook, with right side of work facing and starting at lower edge of right front, work a row of firm d.c. up right front edge, round neck edge and down left front edge (approximately 8 d.c. to every 2 in.), working 3 d.c. into each corner, turn.
Mark positions on left front edge for 8 buttons, the first to be t in. above lower edge and the 8th to be t in. below neck edge. Space remainder evenly between.
Next row: (Picot) 3 ch., sl.st. into first d.c., *sl.st. across next 3 d.c., 3 ch., sl.s1. into same s1. as last sl.s1.; rep. from * to end, at the same time making button loops to match markers on right front edge by working 5 ch. in place of 3 ch. Fasten off.
TO MAKE UP
Join side and sleeve seams. Insert sleeves gathering fullness evenly across sleeve head. Sew on buttons.
